Responsibilities/Duties:

The Division of Plastic Surgery, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry at the University of Alberta, and the Clinical Department of Surgery, Alberta Health Services, Edmonton Zone is accepting applications for the position of an academic Hand & Wrist Plastic Surgeon in the Division of Plastic Surgery. The primary practice site for this position has been identified as the University of Alberta Hospital.

The successful applicants will have job descriptions which will include a commitment to clinical care delivery, education and research. The position will be recruited at a level depending on the qualifications of the applicant.

Additional Notes About Edmonton

The Division of Plastic Surgery currently consists of 17 Plastic Surgeons and provides service to the City of Edmonton and surrounding communities. The Division provides specialized care in all aspects of Plastic Surgery including trauma and burn care. The Division of Plastic Surgery has a busy and comprehensive training program in Plastic Surgery.

Qualifications:

The successful applicant will have opportunity to practice the full spectrum of Plastic Surgery in a busy tertiary care institution; working cooperatively with a multi-disciplinary team. It is anticipated that the applicant will have demonstrated training and expertise in the complete care of the hand & wrist patient. A commitment to research and teaching is expected.

The applicant must have obtained Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons registration in Plastic Surgery. Applicants must have completed a Fellowship in hand & wrist surgery, and must be eligible for licensure in the Province of Alberta. The position comes with significant research expectations. The candidate should ideally have a Master’s degree or PhD.

The successful applicant will be appointed to the Department of Surgery, University of Alberta.

Compensation:

Remuneration is based on Fee for Service billings submitted to Alberta Health.
