Adult Psychiatrist, Edmonton Community, Youth Community Support Program

Alberta Health Services, Department of Addiction & Mental Health in partnership with the University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Psychiatry, has a part time 0.5 FTE position open and is inviting applications from psychiatrists with an interest in working with caregivers of children and youth seen in our Child and Family Psychiatric Services.

Our multi-disciplinary teams consisting of nursing, psychiatry, psychology, occupational therapy, social work, education, and speech language pathology provide education and assistance for more than 1.2 million people in Edmonton Metropolitan Region.

Many children and adolescents in the Youth Community Support Program (YCSP) for emotionally dysregulated youth have parents with psychiatric disorders who do not receive help. The Adult Psychiatry Services is co-located with the Childrens' Mental Health Program to facilitate parents to accept and receive psychiatric supports and for the clinical team to collaborate on a whole-family treatment approach.

An interest in education of trainees and students is highly desirable as the successful candidate is expected to apply for an Academic Appointment in the Department of Psychiatry, University of Alberta.

Candidates must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Psychiatry. S/he must also be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
