Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) is seeking a full time Anatomical Pathologist / General Pathologist for Chinook Regional Hospital.Chinook Regional Hospital is a regional institution located in Lethbridge and is the referral centre for 9 smaller rural hospitals. The catchment area has a population of 180,000 and serves the geographic area of southwestern Alberta. Chinook Regional Hospital is a 310-bed acute care facility, provides a comprehensive service for most specialties, and has an onsite cancer centre. The successful candidate will join a team of 8 laboratory physicians and is required to have excellent skills in surgical pathology and cytopathology. Additional expertise in hematopathology will be considered favorably.

The Chinook Regional Hospital laboratory has sections of anatomical pathology including cytology, hematology and transfusion medicine, biochemistry and microbiology and most testing is performed onsite in Lethbridge. Comprehensive onsite immunohistochemistry is available. 21,000 surgical specimens, 2,600 non-gynecologic cytology specimens and 190 bone marrow biopsy specimens are processed annually.

Qualifications include a MD, eligibility for licensure in the Province of Alberta, and certification in Anatomic or General Pathology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or Anatomic Pathology/Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology.
