Responsibilities/Duties:
Alberta Health Services, South Zone is currently recruiting for a full-time Anesthesiologist beginning January 2020. The Medicine Hat Regional Hospital (MHRH) is an acute care facility, which also includes sub-acute/restorative care beds serving South East Alberta with a catchment population of ~110,000. MHRH has 246 acute care beds, 30 geriatric beds, 10 ICU beds and 7 NICU bassinets. MHRH is an accredited Level 3 Trauma Centre providing coverage in Pediatrics, Geriatrics, General Surgery, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynecology, ENT, Urology, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, Plastic Surgery and Cancer services.
The Department of Anesthesia provides 24-hour services to 6 brand new state of the art operating theatres with over 7900 surgeries yearly. Our OR's are surrounded by massive windows with ample natural light and gorgeous coulee views. One anesthesiologist daily provides acute pain services on the units, consult services, anesthesia for psychiatric electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), supports ICU, EM, OB/GYN, ENT, General Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Urology, Ophthalmology and Orthopedics. Also covers Labour & Delivery suite which sees over 1200 deliveries and 350 Cesarean sections yearly. Additional opportunity to expand your practice into ICU, Chronic Pain and Off-Site Dental. Alberta Health Services also provides excellent leadership opportunities, and continuous exposure to learners.

Qualifications:
Required
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Eligible for license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta
- Preferably licensed by the Canadian or American board of Anesthesia
- No sub-specialty training required but the successful candidate must be familiar with: pediatric and obstetric anesthesia
Desired
- Certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons
- Eligible to work in Canada (Canadian citizenship or permanent residency)
- Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP)
- Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS)

Alberta Medical Association (AMA) Incentives:
Several benefits are available to physicians through the AMA. To receive these benefits, physicians must be members of the AMA or pay a non-member administration fee. The benefits include:
Medical Liability Reimbursement - reimburses physicians for their medical liability protection costs less a $1,000 deductible.
Continuing Medical Education - reimburses physicians for eligible continuing medical education costs. Each eligible physician receives a $2,656 annual allotment which can be carried forward for up to three years.
Parental Leave Program - provides $1,063 per week for up to 17 weeks to physician parents of a newborn or newly adopted child.
