Clinical Associate Pediatric Critical Care

Alberta Health Services, Department of Pediatrics and Medical Affairs, Edmonton Zone is inviting Pediatricians/Anesthetists with special training and capability in Pediatric Intensive Care to apply for a position with the Stollery Childrens Hospital in the Edmonton Zone.
Responsibilities
As a Clinical Associate within the Critical Care Division at the Stollery you will be expected to provide one in four in-house after hours medical clinical coverage to all children within the Pediatric CVICU or the Medical/Surgical PICU as well as provide consultative service for critical care from within the Stollery Childrens Hospital. At all times you will be working under the ongoing supervision and direction of the attending pediatric intensivist.In addition you will be expected to participate in the on-call schedule for Pediatric Transport by providing two dedicated on-call shifts per four week block.
Qualifications
The successful applicant will be contracted with Medical Affairs, Edmonton Zone, AHS and shall have or be eligible for certification in Pediatrics or Anesthesia with the Royal College of Physicians of Canada and must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. Significant Pediatric Medical/Surgical and Cardiac Intensive Care experience is required along with significant experience with ECLS/VAD support. This position will not support a practice readiness assessment.

The Stollery Childrens Hospital provides major tertiary/quaternary support to a vast geographic region encompassing Western Canada. The hospital provides a full array of critical care services in support of the children of Northern Alberta as well as multiple regionalized programs including the Western Canadian Childrens Heart Network (over 400 cardio-pulmonary bypass surgeries per year), solid organ transplant programs (heart, liver, lung, small bowel, kidney), active ECLS and VAD programs as well as a busy PICU Transport Team.
