Alberta Health Services (AHS), Edmonton Zone, invites applications for the role of Facility Medical Director (FMD), Devon General Hospital (DGH).
This 0.10 FTE position, governed by the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules, reports directly to the Associate Zone Medical Director (AZMD), Primary Care, Continuing Care, Community Care and Suburban Hospitals and to the Zone Clinical Department Head (ZCDH), Family Medicine.
The FMD, DGH works collaboratively with the DGH site operational lead as dyad partner, and also with clinical and operational leaders to provide clinical oversight for the DGH site. Utilizing the AHS dyad model, the FMD and the Site Director of DGH will maintain a close working relationship and will be jointly accountable to provide integrated leadership for the DGH site.
The position is accountable for, but not limited to, providing senior medical leadership support for the Department Facility Chiefs within their portfolio; the resolution of physician-related and clinical-operational matters; providing clinical leadership, consultation, support, and coaching to the site medical staff; monitoring clinical practice and medical staff in accordance with the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules; and advocating for the provision of overall quality, patient safety, and patient care. This position is also responsible for recruitment and performance management of Department Facility Chiefs at the DGH, in collaboration with the Zone Clinical Department Heads.
This role has an expected start date of Sep 1st, 2023 and an expected term of 3 years.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated abilities in communication, physician and stakeholder engagement, and a passion for quality and patient safety. They will be an inclusive and visionary leader, possess experience in medical leadership, and be considered a strong clinician by their peers. The successful candidate will also possess superior interpersonal skills and have demonstrated supervisory or management experience.
Candidates must be College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) certified, be eligible to work in Canada, and hold or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and appointment to the AHS Medical Staff.
