Alberta Health Services, Central Zone, is actively recruiting a General Practitioner with a special interest in Addiction Medicine to establish afull-timepractice with the Virtual Opioid Dependency Program (VODP) at the Centennial Centre for Mental Health and Brain Injury (CCMHBI) in the community of Ponoka, AB.The Virtual Opioid Dependency Program is a provincial service that provides immediate same day access to evidence-based treatment, transitional support for people moving between care providers, low-barrier treatment and ongoing care. The scope of practice includes participating in ongoing care as well as occasional coverage for on-call teams.

The teams are located in Ponoka, at the CCMHBI, however physicians have the ability to work remotely periodically

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

The program operates with multidisciplinary teams and shared care 7 days per week from 0800 to 2000h.

Occasional on-call coverage

Obtain and maintain an AHS Medical Staff Appointment and appropriate privileges to provide the Services;

Provide call assistance as per call schedules for the VODP Program, as required;

Abide by the AHS Medical Staff Bylaws, the AHS Medical Staff Rules and AHS policies;

Participate in quality improvement programs and initiatives undertaken within the Department of Family Medicine;

Participate in relevant Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs;

Contribute to and participate in other administrative responsibilities, as assigned;

Work collaboratively with peers and care team colleagues in support of patient care

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

Have or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (required with application);

Have or be eligible for licensure with the College of Family Physicians (CCFP);

Must have recent and relevant experience (within the past 12 months) in all areas of practice required,as well as experience in offering these services as the sole provider;
