Job Details

Program Description

The CMHRP is inviting applications for part-time positions in General Adult Psychiatry. The program is a newly established 32-bed, community-based, sub-acute admission unit within the Addiction & Mental Health continuum of services. The typical patient coming into the program would have completed inpatient treatment in hospital and requires step down services to help transition into an appropriate community setting. Patients may have co-occurring intellectual disability, mental health disorder, addiction history, forensic history and severe behavioral issues including a history of aggression. The service delivery model is based on the principles of Psychosocial Rehabilitation that is trauma-informed and recovery-oriented. The site will also operate within a harm reduction model. Although the program is focused on rehabilitation and recovery, it is recognized that for some patients this can be a time-intensive process that may require several months to two years before moving to a less structured environment.

Responsibilities/Duties

The successful candidate will provide inpatient sub-acute psychiatry services within a multi- disciplinary team of psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, behaviour support specialists, and recreation therapists. Having a team approach is important to us and we are looking for a candidate who is interested in becoming an integral part of the functioning of our program. A minimum commitment of 0.3FTE is a requirement, along with scheduled afterhours and weekend work. The successful candidate will report directly to the Clinical Lead for the program and will have an opportunity to apply for a Clinical Faculty Appointment and to participate in the training of residents and clinical clerks at the University of Calgary.
