Covenant Health, in partnership with Alberta Health Services and the University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Pediatrics, invites applications for a General Pediatrician to be based primarily at the Grey Nuns Community Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta.

The successful candidate would join a group of 8 private practice pediatricians with admitting privileges to Grey Nuns Community Hospital. The applicant would engage in a full range of community pediatrics with duties including:

Being on the call roster for the GNCH with newborn admitting privileges and consultation to NICU for neonates transitioning to home. The on call physician is expected to round on all non-assigned newborns the morning following being on call (averaging 12-20 newborns) and each day until discharge. On call duties would also include being available for consultations from GNCH ER as well as from post-partum and community public health nurses. The GNCH call group includes 8 general pediatricians. On call would be three to four days per month.

Teaching activities would include in-office teaching of students and residents. Office teaching would be compensated by the EPSC as per established rates.

Joining an existing private pediatric clinic and providing outpatient general pediatric clinical service 3-5 days per week (details to be arranged with your new private practice colleagues upon being named the successful candidate)

The successful candidate must be eligible for registration with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Alberta and must be appointed to the Edmonton Zone Medical Staff. The successful candidate will be eligible to be certified by the RCPS of Canada in the specialty of pediatrics. An interest in community pediatrics or subspecialty training in areas aligned with community pediatrics activities is preferred.

The successful applicant will be expected to apply for a Clinical Faculty Appointment in the Department of Pediatrics, University of Alberta, which will be considered under a separate process through the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry.
