General Practitioner, Department of Oncology, Cross Cancer Institute, Edmonton, Alberta

The Department of Oncology, Cancer Care Alberta, Division of Hematology/Medical Oncology at the Cross Cancer Institute (CCI), with Alberta Health Services is inviting applications from Family Medicine Physicians interested in providing services to the Oncology Outpatient program.

The position requires active participation within various multidisciplinary cancer program oncologist teams that are working within the systemic treatment area and are involved in patient care, research and teaching activities at the Cross Cancer Institute, Edmonton Zone.

This opportunity involves sessional clinics at the CCI site outpatient programs. The successful candidate will provide consultation, assessment and management for Chemotherapy , Immunotherapy and Cell Therapy patients. This position will monitor patients undergoing these outpatient systemic therapies, which includes chemotherapy, immunotherapy, hormone therapy and targeted drug therapies. This position will be involved with managing acute toxicities, dose adjustment and modifying treatment plans, support for infusions and visit summaries. The physician will provide ongoing surveillance and monitoring of patients that have completed their treatment to monitor for cancer recurrence or treatment related complications.

The CCI is an integrated cancer treatment and research facility that functions as the tertiary oncology referral centre for Northern Alberta. It has a strong record of basic and translational research as well as clinical trial activity in oncology.

Qualifications:

Qualifications include an MD, certification in Family Medicine (or equivalent), and eligibility for licensure in the Province of Alberta.

Preferred:

Additional training in a General Practitioner in Oncology education program would be an asset.
