Responsibilities/Duties:

The Department of Anesthesia, Perioperative, & Pain Medicine, Alberta Health Services, Calgary Zone, invites applications for the position of Gynecologist, within the Chronic Pain Centre, at the Richmond Road Diagnostic & Treatment Centre, in Calgary. The position will be for 0.2 FTE. The ideal starting date will be September 1, 2021, though this can be negotiated. Applicants available beyond that date will also be considered.

Alberta Health Services Calgary Zone is one of the largest fully integrated, publicly funded health care systems in Canada and serves a population of approximately 1.4 million people living in an area of 40,000 square kilometers. An additional 300,000 people in Southern Alberta, Southwestern Saskatchewan, and Southeastern British Columbia access health care in the Zone.

The successful candidate will be asked to contribute to the Chronic Pain Centre, at the Richmond Road Diagnostic & Treatment Centre and the University of Calgary Cumming School of Medicine in non-clinical areas. Non-clinical duties may or may not be funded, depending upon level of engagement. These matters may be negotiated with the Academic Department Head, Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine, at the Cumming School of Medicine.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate should be able to work with a multi-disciplinary team, possess superior interpersonal communication skills, and have a strong commitment to delivering innovative perioperative care. Calgary Anesthesiologists support the Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine’s academic mission by teaching all levels of learners and participating in clinical and academic research. The position encompasses full clinical practice including on-call and appointment as a University of Calgary Clinical Lecturer.

Fellowship training will be regarded favorably but is not mandatory.

Applicants must be a qualified MD or equivalent, with specialist certification in Obstetrics & Gynecology and hold a current position with the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology.

The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.

Must read, write and speak English.
