Alberta Health Services is looking for a full-time Hospitalist who's primary role is to provide Inpatient Care at Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre.
The successful candidate will be responsible for medical consultations services to Psychiatry and Surgery patients. Weeks run from Wednesday to Tuesday with handover occuring on Tuesday night, either in person or over the phone. Intake of new patients happens either on Wednesday/Friday/Sunday/Tuesday or Thursday/Saturday/Monday. On intake you complete admissions from the ER or take direct admissions from the GP Clinics.
On site coverage is from 07:30 to 17:30 with intake calls occuring until 21:30. The Intake Hospitalist will also provide after-hours coverage for both teams to ensure the non-intake hospitalist has time to recover. Rotation is 2 weeks every 5 weeks in a one-on, one-off, one-on, two-off rotation.

This allows the hospitalists to pursue other endeavours whether this is locuming in the family practice clinics, working in the ER, chemotherapy clinics or participating in other local opportunities.

Required Qualifications:

CCFP Certification

  • Must have current hospitalist experience in a rural and regional setting
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
