Hospitalist - Red Deer Full-time Job
1 month ago Doctor / Physician Red Deer 10 viewsJob Details
Alberta Health Services is looking for a full-time Hospitalist who's primary role is to provide Inpatient Care at Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre.
Weeks for the service run from Monday to Sunday. The intake of new patients usually comes from the emergency department, but we also receive transfers of care from other services. Given current capacity situation we do not take any direct admissions from GP offices or from the community. Hand-over occurs usually on Sunday evenings over the phone, but can be arranged to be done on Monday mornings in person if both parties agree.
Currently there is a five week rotation, with most newcomers doing one in five weeks on the schedule. Depending on the other kind of work that new physicians would do, they will sometimes go on to work two out of five weeks which we have determined is the highest number any physician can own based on maximum FTE requirements. Most of our physicians also do other work in the community, sometimes in family practices, surgical assisting or for instance at the medical detox in Red Deer. We are fortunate to not have to be on site for call, in particular late evening.
