Alberta Health Services is collaborating with the Institute for Healthcare Optimization (IHO) to improve patient outcomes and experiences as part of the Alberta Surgical Initiative. The methodologies of the IHO will help drive further improvements in surgical flow and patient outcomes.
Chinook Regional Hospital is currently looking for an IHO Surgery Site Lead at Chinook Regional Hospital.Reporting to the AZMD for Surgery the IHOSurgery Site Lead will work in a dyad model along with a site Operations Surgical lead, supporting key activities and dependencies for the successful implementation and evaluation of the IHO methodologies at their site.The Surgery Site Lead will be the single point of contact for IHO Site Champions at the site. This is a temporary position expected to last 18 months.
Advocate and articulate the benefits of the IHO inspiring local teams to get involved.
Support the work of the IHO Site Champions.
Be willing to educate surgical colleagues and negotiate solutions to peer resistance to changes in scheduling practices.
Participate in the development of site priorities, outcomes, timelines, and action plan; monitor site outcomes and report as required.
Participate in safety and quality improvement initiatives related to IHO engage zone specialists in Surgery, Anesthesiology, and nursing to improve care delivery.
Lead and support change management, including identification of barriers to the successful adoption of the IHO methodologies and possible solutions to address the barriers at the site.
Participate in IHO program evaluation.
Liaise with other Zone and Site Leads IHO provincially to share successes and challenges.
Participate in meetings related to IHO as required.
Bring forward unresolved risks and issues to the successful implementation of the IHO Methodology to the Provincial IHO Implementation Office.
