Covenant Health in partnership with Alberta Health Services and the Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Alberta, invites applications for a LOCUM Vascular Surgeon to join our dynamic surgical team at the Northern Alberta Vascular Centre (NAVC) in Edmonton, Alberta.
This is a six-monthlocum term: July 15, 2023 January 15, 2024.
NAVC is a fully equipped vascular program with a dedicated vascular ward, step-down unit, full ICU/CCU services, dialysis unit, and a full service, complementary vascular radiology department. Clinical work is supported by a full-time Clinical Associate and in-house night-time physician extenders, who provide exceptional 24/7 coverage of the Vascular ward and Emergency Department. Resident training is an integral part of the program and includes trainees from cardiac, general, orthopedic and urologic surgery. Alberta has a very competitive fee schedule. In addition, our group believes in an equitable division of resources, with no "seniority" rules. OR time and outpatient department time is equally distributed to all members.
The successful candidate will provide locum coverage in complement to a team of fellowship-trained vascular surgeons to provide vascular consultative services to the Edmonton Zone and Northern Alberta and will have equal access to resources, including OR time, as currently provided within the vascular surgical team. The NAVC at the Grey Nuns covers the full spectrum of vascular disease, including an established thoracic and abdominal endovascular aortic program. Two integrated operative/endovascular suites with fixed imaging provide an optimal surgical environment for a full range of open, endovascular and hybrid therapies. All members will need to do arterial reconstructions (aortic, peripheral and trauma), aneurysm repair, carotid surgery, amputations, and dialysis access surgery.
