The Department of Medicine is looking to recruit a new Medical Director of Anticoagulation Management Services within the AHS Calgary zone. This position is open to current physicians within the Department of Medicine and has an AHS leadership stipend associated. This position is responsible for managing and evaluating the anticoagulation management services within the Calgary zone, ensuring that policies and practices are up-to-date, evidence-based, cost effective and consistent with provincial policies/programs. The role includes healthcare provider education, working on VTE prophylaxis accreditation, and annual reporting of the utilization of anticoagulation, rates of VTE, hospitalization rates for VTE and stroke, and bleeding complications. This position works closely with pharmacy and is key to ensuring that care practices related to anticoagulation management are optimized within the Calgary zone |
