The Department of Oncology, Cancer Care Alberta, Alberta Health Services, Community Oncology in conjunction with University of Alberta/University of Calgary invite applications for a full-time Medical Oncologist position at the Central Alberta Cancer Centre (CACC) in Red Deer, Alberta.
The successful applicant will become a member of a multidisciplinary cancer program located at the Central Alberta Cancer Centre (CACC) site in Red Deer, Alberta, and will join a team of Medical and Radiation Oncologists, Nurse Practitioners and medical support staff working in the Central Zone.
The CACC in Red Deer is one of four Regional Cancer Centres within Cancer Care Albertas Community Oncology portfolio. Serving Central and Northern Alberta, Southeastern British Columbia and Southwestern Saskatchewan, the centre delivers a wide range of state of the art treatment and care to cancer patients including outpatient chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and access to clinical trials, education and psychosocial support. Cancer care practice at the CACC is centered around 7 major tumor groups with rarer tumors managed in conjunction with consultation and expertise from the tertiary centers in Calgary and Edmonton.
The CACC operates within a provincial framework for cancer care supported by provincial clinical guidelines and standards, focused on patient centered care. Medical Oncologists are expected to participate in local and provincial tumor team based activities including clinical case reviews at tumor board rounds, annual, provincial tumor team meetings, local quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives and educational programs and are supported by a network of Medical Oncologists province wide.
Red Deer is a city of over 100,000 people located near the midpoint of the CalgaryEdmonton Corridor and surrounded by the rolling hills of the aspen parkland. It is a centre for oil and agriculture distribution, and the surrounding region is a major centre for petrochemical production.
This picturesque, family oriented community boasts 80 kilometres of multi-use trails that permit biking, rollerblading, horseback riding, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and, walking. The nearby Canyon ski resort is a favorite of snow boarders and down hill skiers alike. Other attractions include the Peavey Mart Centrium (formerly Enmax Centrium) which hosts concerts, hockey, basketball, motor sports, ice shows, major curling events, circuses, boxing, rodeos, wrestling, trade shows and conventions. Red Deer is also home to a wide variety of cultural groups including the Central Alberta Theatre, Ignition Theatre and Central Music Festival.
The local school district serves more than 11,000 students in thirty schools, offering a wide range of programming from Pre-kindergarten to High School. cole La Prairie, is a French school located in downtown Red Deer that offers pre-kindergarten through grade 12 programs. Red Deer College offers over 75 program options including degrees and University Transfer programs and award winning programs in Preforming Arts.
Qualifications include an MD, certification in Internal Medicine, special competency in Medical Oncology, a fellowship in Medical Oncology and be eligible for licensure in the Province of Alberta.

Recruitment Incentives: Relocation Support: up to $10,000 for recruits within North America and up to $15,000 for recruits outside North America.
Strategic Incentives: the successful candidate is eligible for an additional recruitment incentive of up to $50,000 conditional on leadership approval.
