The Department of Oncology, Cancer Care Alberta, Alberta Health Services, Community Oncology in conjunction with the University of Alberta invite applications for a full-time Medical Oncologist position at the Grande Prairie Cancer Centre (GPCC) in Grande Prairie, Alberta.

The successful applicant will become a member of a multidisciplinary cancer program located at the Grande Prairie Cancer Centre (GPCC) site in Grande Prairie, Alberta, and will join a team of Medical and Radiation Oncologists, Nurse Practitioners and medical support staff working in the North Zone.

Cancer Care Alberta, Alberta Health Services provides strong mentorship and professional development support and promotes active academic collaboration between the colleagues in the regional and tertiary Oncology sites in Alberta. Cancer Care Alberta is currently working on a clinical trial program initiative in the Community Oncology, and the successful candidate will have an exciting opportunity to contribute to the clinical trial program development.

The successful candidate will be expected to participate in local and provincial tumor team based activities including clinical case reviews at tumor board rounds, annual, provincial tumor team meetings, local quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives.

The Grande Prairie Cancer Centre is a new building located within the new Grande Prairie Regional Hospital which opened in 2021.The GPCC is one of four Regional Cancer Centres within Cancer Care Albertas Community Oncology portfolio. Serving Northern Alberta and Northeastern British Columbia, cancer care practice at the GPCC is centered on seven major tumor groups, with rarer tumors managed in conjunction with consultation and expertise from the tertiary centers in Edmonton and Calgary.

Qualifications include an MD, certification in Internal Medicine, special competency in Medical Oncology and must have obtained a Fellowship in Medical Oncology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada by the time of appointment. The candidate must also be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. They must read, write, and speak English fluently.

This position is sponsorship and LMIA eligible.

All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply, however, Canadians and Permanent Residents will be given priority.

Recruitment Incentives: Relocation Support: up to $10,000 for recruits within North America and up to $15,000 for recruits outside North America.

Strategic Incentives: the successful candidate is eligible for an additional recruitment incentive of up to $50,000 conditional on leadership approval.

The Practitioner is responsible for purchasing health and insurance benefits.
