Responsibilities/Duties:
This is one year locum position for a consultant psychiatrist to provide one time psychiatric consults in our Urgent Psychiatric Consult Clinic at South Health Campus.
The referrals are made by Emergency physicians or Family physicians in the community who are looking to get an urgent Psychiatric opinion for a patient over the age of 18. This includes coming up with a diagnostic impression and clear treatment direction for the referral source. The appointed Psychiatrist will be using Dragonspeak or such a program to document their notes. Flexibility to switch to Connect Care as need will be expected. Ability to commit to the appointments and produce accurate and timely documentation will be mandatory. Availability to consult with the referral source over the phone as needed will be expected. The psychiatrist must be a good team player and be able to respectfully work with colleagues and administrative staff in a team setting. Taking regular call at South Health Campus will be expected. Ability to cover for colleagues as needed will be required during vacation times.
The appointed psychiatrist will be expected to work within the mandate of the clinic and follow the direction provided by the Site Chief and Department of Psychiatry. The Psychiatrist will be sharing their office with other colleagues. Knowledge of local resources will be an asset.
Qualifications:
Preference will be given to Canadians that have passed their Canadian Royal College exams and are (or will be) registered with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA).
