Services of the Department of Psychiatry, Calgary Zone are provided in all urban adult acute sites (Foothills, Peter Lougheed, Rockyview General Hospitals and South Health Campus), the Alberta Childrens Hospital, the Southern Alberta Forensic Psychiatry Centre and the Claresholm Centre for Mental Health and Addictions. We also provide many community services, with mental health clinics in all quadrants of the city, a large mental health program at the Sheldon Chumir Health Centre, and in rural areas around Calgary. We provide psychiatric consultation services to a range of other treatment facilities. The Department has an active research program through the University of Calgary, a post-graduate training program encompassing 40 residents over a 5-year period, plus undergraduate training. Immediate opportunity exists for an individual with an interest in Emergency Psychiatry to fill the vacant extender shifts each month.
