The Program Medical Education Advisor for the Anesthesia Care Team will work in a dyad leadership model with the ACT Program Education Lead to design, develop, implement and evaluate educational programs including a robust continuous quality improvement process. This position provides clinical content expertise for Anesthesiology and supports the development and design of education across all ACT providers, including the Anesthesia Assistant (AA) training curriculum and program.
The Program Medical Education Advisor- ACT position is a flexible role of 0.4 FTE (2 days per week). AHS is looking for a one year commitment with the possibility to extend.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in a dyad leadership model with the ACT Program Education Lead;
- Provide input and oversight as the clinical expert to the development of the ACT Education Programs (didactic and clinical)for all providers in AHS,
- Work with the Zone Medical Champions and ZCDHs of Anesthesia as a clinical content expert and facilitate the ongoing mentorship and evaluation of ACT,
- In dyad partnership with the Program Education Lead, ensure the AA Program curriculum meets national standards and regulatory requirements,
- Provide consultation and clinical content expertise to the ACT Program clinical educators,
- Support and facilitate clinical competency of ACT providers through structured simulation,
- Participate in the development, implementation and monitoring of robust quality improvement initiatives within the ACT Program. Support the Zone Champions regarding opportunities for improvements,
- Participate in the development of program evaluation outcomes and monitor the same,
- Participate in ACT committees as required.

The Program Medical Education Advisor must be a FRCP licensed Anesthesiologist, trusted and respected by their peers. They should be dedicated to patient safety, evidence based medicine, principals of team care, quality improvement, be a strong communicator and have a working knowledge of change management.
