The Opioid Dependency Program (ODP) provides medical services including assessments/medicals, ad hoc appointments, outreach to community sites, treatment planning, ordering lab & imaging tests, writing/reviewing prescriptions (including Suboxone as well as triplicates: Methadone/Kadian/iOAT) treatment of co-occurring substance use disorders and medical leadership within the team.
The physician will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to manage patient care at ODP outreach sites.
This physician will work weekends (0.2-0.4FTE). Remuneration is fee for service with a highly attractive income guarantee and hourly rate for on-call. There will be opportunity for cross coverage of Henwood Treatment Centre (residential treatment) and ARC detox.
The successful candidate will have anMD, with a CCFP or FRCPC designation, will be eligible for licensure in the province of Alberta and will hold a methadone license. Physicians, including Family Physicians as well as Psychiatrists who currently hold addiction medicine certification, have relevant training or have a keen interest in learning addiction medicine are encouraged to express interest.
Experience with addictions, opioid dependency and an ability to effectively manage patients in crisis are definite assets.
