This position is in Calgary, Alberta.

In a competent and professional manner, the Contractor will provide leadership and direction to the Maternal Newborn Care physicians at Foothills Medical Centre (FMC). This includes professional matters relating to quality medical services such as patient care, education and research, program development, and quality improvement.

Specific accountabilities/deliverables include but are not limited to:

Provide active medical leadership for the low risk maternal and newborn care physicians working out of FMC.

Develop and maintain close relationships with key maternal newborn care partners (including Site Administration and Obstetrics and Pediatric Program Leads).

Review and manage patient concerns, complaints, and incidents involving maternal newborn care physicians at FMCand ensure appropriate resolution.

Provide ongoing competency reviews for physicians at the site doing obstetrics

Collaborate with other DFM Maternal Newborn Care Site Chiefs and the Section Chief to establish and implement policies and practices involving maternal and newborn care in the Calgary Zone.

Work in partnership with thePrimary Care Networks regarding service delivery, including issues pertaining to the transition of patient care between the FMC and the community.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have:

Current licensure with the College of Physician and Surgeons of Alberta and a medical staff appointment with Alberta

Health Services with privileges to practice low risk obstetrics at FMC

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience providing obstetrical care.

Excellent communications skills.

A demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Time and interest to commit to advancing maternal newborn care at the FMC.

Leadership experience in managing programs an asset.

The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.

Must read, write, and speak English.
