Alberta Health Services (AHS) is committed to the planning,development, implementation and evaluation of Anesthesia Care Team models to support the sustainable provision of anesthesia services in Alberta. As such a Provincial Anesthesia Care Team Operational Program - Provincial Centre of Excellence has been established. As part of this program,Medicine Hat Regional Hospital is seeking an Anesthesiologist Lead/Champion for the initiation and successful implementation of the Anesthesia Care Team Model (ACTM).

The ACTM Lead will report to the AZMD or Zone Clinical Department Head Co Lead for Anesthesia. This position requires active participation working in a dyad model with the Operations Surgical Lead to support activities and dependencies for the successful implementation of the ACTM. Responsibilities associated with the Lead Position includes:

• advocating and articulating the benefits of the ACTM and inspiring others to participate
• supporting recruitment of Anesthesiologists for clinical supervision of ACT Members
• support orientation/mentorship of new Anesthesia care team members
• support site medical affairs with agreements put in place for anesthesiologists participating in the ACTM
• support orientation/mentorship of participating Anesthesiologists in the ACTM program.
• participate in safety and quality improvement initiatives related to ACTM
• lead and support change management, including identification of barriers to the successful adoption of the ACTM and possible solutions to address the barriers at the site
• lead and support change management
• participate in ACTM evaluations
• liase with other Zone leads to share successes and challenges
• participate in Zone and Provincial committees related to ACTM as required
