Responsibilities/Duties:

The Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry at the University of Alberta, in partnership with Alberta Health Services (AHS) in Edmonton, Alberta is inviting applications for a Staff Anesthesiologist position based primarily at the University of Alberta Hospital.

The successful applicants will be expected to apply for an Academic Clinical Appointment in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine and be willing to be involved in resident teaching and clinical research facilitation.

Additional Notes About Edmonton

A team of more than 160 department members, the Department of Anesthesiology is composed of physicians, anesthetists, scientists, educators and allied health professionals who provide services to ten Edmonton hospitals, and referrals from northern and western Alberta. We are a major referral centre for Northern Alberta and the Northwest Territories with a referral based of over 1.5 million people. The Anesthesiology group provides services to patients at the Cross Cancer Institute, Grey Nuns Community Hospital, Leduc Community Hospital, Misericordia Community Hospital, Royal Alexandra Hospital, Stollery Children’s Hospital, Sturgeon Community Hospital and the University of Alberta Hospital.

Qualifications:

The successful applicants shall have certification in Anesthesiology with the Royal College of Physicians of Canada and be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. Additional training in regional, acute pain, liver transplant, vascular, obstetrical and cardiac will be considered an asset.

Compensation:

Remuneration will be based on a fee-for service model with billing directly to Alberta Health.
