Alberta Health Services is currently seeking the services of an independently licensed physician to assist in the medical management of surgical inpatients in Orthopedics under the Division of Surgery at the University of Hospital in the Edmonton Zone. This is a co-management model of care with the Surgical Hospitalist primarily providing general medical care and the attending surgeon primarily managing surgical care in a collaborative environment.

We are recruiting a physician to start as soon as possible. The successful applicant will provide scheduled service in Orthopedics under the Surgery Division at the University of Alberta Hospital. Clinical responsibilities may include completing admissions, consults, daily assessment and active management of inpatients, minor procedures and completion of discharge summaries. Teaching of medical students and residents may also be required. Surgical Hospitalists will be encouraged to work a minimum of 3 shifts per month. Shifts are Monday - Sunday 0700 -1700 or 1600 -2400.

Applicants must hold an MD or equivalent and must be eligible for independent licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. Ideal applicants should have ACLS and experience in the clinical management of acute medical inpatients.
