Alberta Health Services (AHS) is inviting applications from Physicians, with a background and experience in urgent or emergency care to provide locum services at the East Edmonton Urgent Care.

We are looking for physicians interested in working in the Urgent Care Centre (UCC). The clinic is run out of the East Edmonton Health Centre (EEHC). The UCC operates weekdays from 5:00pm 11:00pm and weekends from 3:00pm 11:00pm. The urgent care is open 365 days a year thus both weekend and holiday coverage are required.

On-site lab and DI are available. Clinic operations are fully computerized with an Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Other co-located programs at EECHC include Public Health Services, Addictions and Mental Health, Adult and Childrens Home Care and Social Services.

EEHC is affiliated with the University of Alberta and serves as an important training facility for residents and students.Therefore, the successful candidate will be encouraged to apply for a Clinical Academic appointment in the Department of Family Medicine, University of Alberta which will be considered under a separate process through the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry.

Qualifications:

The successful applicant shall have or be eligible for certification in Family Medicine with the Canadian College of Family Physicians and hold active licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta or have a certificate in Emergency Medicine and hold active licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. Candidates with at least 1 year of rural or urban ER experience are preferred.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have superior interpersonal skills with a demonstrated commitment to teamwork and peer relationships. The successful candidate should be committed to fulfilling clinical and non-clinical duties as a representative of Family Medicine.This position is NOT eligible for AHS sponsorship of a College of Physicians and Surgeons Practice Readiness Assessment.
