Responsibilities/Duties:

Alberta Health Services (AHS), South Zone, invites applications for the role of Zone Clinical Department Section Chief, Family Medicine, Low Risk Obstetrics and Newborn Care at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital (MHRH).

This 0.10 FTE position, governed by the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules, reports directly to the Zone Clinical Department Head (ZCDH) Family Medicine, Medicine Hat Regional Hospital.

The Zone Clinical Department Section Chief, Family Medicine, Low Risk Obstetrics and Newborn Care has primary responsibility for the effective and efficient functioning of the section of Low Risk Obstetrics and Newborn Care within the Department of Family Medicine, and is an important contributor in all Zone planning and strategies.

Other major accountabilities include:

  • Developing and maintaining a functional departmental leadership structure capable of carrying out the mandate and roles of the section of Low Risk Obstetrics and Newborn Care within the Department of Family Medicine;

  • Management of physician resources;

  • Liaison: establish and maintain effective communication with site department members, other members of medical staff as needed; and site department management and AHS operational leads;

  • Physician Workforce;

  • Quality;

  • Resource Utilization and Infrastructure.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated abilities in communication, conflict resolution and a passion for quality and patient safety. They will be an inclusive and visionary leader and is considered a strong clinician by peers.

The successful candidate will also possess superior interpersonal skills and be committed to fulfilling clinical and non-clinical duties as a representative of the Section of Low Risk Obstetrics and Newborn Care, within the Department of Family Medicine.

Candidates must possess Certification with The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) or other relevant certification/specialization, be eligible to work in Canada, and hold or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and appointment to the AHS Medical Staff.

Compensation:

Remuneration is in accordance with AHS contractor agreements.
