Alberta Health Services (AHS), Edmonton Zone and Cancer Care Alberta invites applications for the role of Zone Clinical Section Chief, Gynecologic Oncology

This 0.20 FTE position governed by the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules, reports to the Zone Clinical Department Heads of Oncology and Womens Health. The Section Chief, Gynecologic Oncology, is a leadership role contributing guidance and advice for strategic planning, project development and quality care for patients receiving clinical care through the Section of Gynecologic Oncology. This section chief will work with the medical leadership team contributing expert guidance and advice to matters within the Departments of Oncology and Womens Health; and conducting rigorous performance management and quality improvement.

The Gynecologic Oncology Section Chief is accountable for ensuring effective support at the site level for teaching and research, promoting educational programs and developing/promoting departmental research activities for Zone Clinical Section members and other staff associated with the Zone Clinical Section, patient safety, quality management and more. The role will also support recruitment and retention of physicians to the section and liaise with Zone Councils and other site medical leaders.

The position has an expected start date of approximately October 1st, 2022 and an expected term of 3 years.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated abilities in communication, conflict resolution and a passion for quality and patient safety. They will be an inclusive and visionary leader with significant experience in medical leadership and is considered a strong clinician by peers.

The successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, have demonstrated supervisory experience and be an excellent clinician with the respect of their peers. The successful candidate also will be committed to fulfilling clinical and non-clinical duties as a representative of the Departments of Oncology and Womens Health.

Candidates must be Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC)certified, be eligible to work in Canada, and hold or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and appointment to the AHS Medical Staff. Candidates should have evidence of formal administrative education and training.
