Alberta Health Services (AHS), Calgary Zone invites applications for the role of Zone Clinical Section Chief, Pediatric Rheumatology, Department of Pediatrics.

This 0.10 FTE position governed by the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules, reports to the Zone Clinical Department Head of Pediatrics. The Department is concurrently seeking applications for a 1.0 FTE position in Pediatric Rheumatology. Candidates may wish to consider applying to both positions.

The Section Chief Pediatric Rheumatology is a leadership role contributing guidance and advice for strategic planning, project development and quality care for patients receiving clinical care through the Section of Pediatric Rheumatology. This medical-administrative leader will work with the medical leadership team contributing expert guidance and advice to matters within the Department of Pediatrics.

This leader position is accountable for ensuring effective support at the site level for patient safety, quality management, teaching and research, promoting educational programs and developing/promoting departmental research activities for section members. The role will also support recruitment and retention of physicians to the section, and liaise with other site medical leaders.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated abilities in communication, conflict resolution, analytics, strategic thinking/influence and a passion for quality and patient care.

Applicants must hold an MD and Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent) in Pediatrics and Rheumatology.

Practice experience in Pediatric Rheumatology is required.

Applicants must be eligible for an Independent Practice Permit with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
